Philadelphia

Hey Everyone,

This past Labor Day weekend my best friend and I decided to travel to Philadelphia on a whim and escape school…not that we had school but, you get the idea. We packed our backpacks, and departed from SUNY New Paltz for a few days in search of an adventure. At first we weren’t sure exactly what to do in Philly, but then we decided “lets not have a plan and just explore,” and that is exactly what we did. Although we had no plans, we did know that eating a Philly cheesesteak was on the top of our “not so real” list, especially since neither one of us had tried one before. The only thing I can think of to describe my first experience eating a Philly cheesesteak is that it will be my only experience. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious while I was eating it and I understand why everyone loves them but, I do not think I can ever eat another one again. Although, somewhat disappointed with the “famous” Philly cheesesteak, I was definitely not going to let this ruin my trip. I was with my best friend, in a city I had never been to, and I wasn’t at school, so therefore I was already having a great time. We got to be complete tourists, and that was my favorite part. We tried famous restaurants, sat near fountains and people watched for hours, walked around exploring until it was nearly midnight. It was overall an amazing quick getaway. I did end the trip by getting an awful cold, which can I mention, I still have…a whole week later, but it was totally worth it! I completely 100% recommend visiting Philadelphia for a weekend if you want to get away!

Although I left New Paltz for the weekend, it truly is an amazing place, here is a blog post from the International Businesses students who are experiencing New York and New Paltz for the first time: https://newpaltziibpr.wordpress.com/2015/09/14/one-school-hundreds-of-opportunities/
